Terry, Listening grew out of visits to Sunrise Senior Living in Henderson, Nevada, where my father-in-law, Terry, lives.

Spending time with him, I find myself noticing the way he listens. His stillness, his focus, and the way he lightly touches his neck became the foundation for this painting.

The work is part of an ongoing series inspired by these visits, where my attention has gradually expanded to the gestures, expressions, and quiet moments of the people around him.
