This painting explores memory and the ways our understanding of the past can be incomplete. What began as an intuitive composition on a much larger canvas gradually evolved as I reconsidered which elements were essential to the work.

By cutting apart the original canvas and incorporating a figure into a new composition, I began building a different visual narrative. Layers of oil paint and canvas collage create a fragmented surface, reflecting the uncertain and sometimes complicated nature of memory.
