Commissioned Portrait

I recently completed a commissioned portrait for a private client. Though created from a specific brief and inspired by pop-art portraiture, the finished piece incorporates many of the layered surface elements and mixed-media materials that continue to shape my work.

For this painting, I worked with a more graphic visual framework while still allowing for space, texture, collage, and painterly variation. The more graphic elements of the piece still allowed room for looser marks, texture, and layered surfaces to emerge throughout the process.
